Government mortgage giant Freddie Mac announced today that it is suspending foreclosure evictions from December 20 to January 3 for all occupied single family and 2-4 unit properties that have associated Freddie Mac mortgages.
“If the property is occupied, our foreclosure attorneys will suspend the eviction to provide a greater measure of certainty to families during the holidays,” said Anthony Renzi, Executive Vice President of Single Family Portfolio Management at Freddie Mac, in a release.
This is the third straight year that Freddie Mac has suspended foreclosure evictions during the holidays. In 2008, the suspension was from November 26 to January 9 and in 2009 the suspension was from Dec 19 to Jan 3.
